Description
We are excited to continue sharing the positive progress of our initiatives, including the ongoing development of the Recovery Friendly Workplace Toolkit. Additionally, we are thrilled to announce the distribution of OneBox and lifesaving NARCAN to our community.
As we move forward, we are eager to update our business community, local stakeholders, and the public on the status of our efforts. We are honored to feature insights from our keynote speaker, Dr. James Fulcher, District 7 Medical Examiner of Volusia County, who will discuss Lethal Overdoses and highlight the critical initiatives underway to prevent overdoses in our area. Dr. Fulcher will be joined by subject matter experts, including Karen Chrapek, Executive Director of the Volusia Recovery Alliance. Additionally, Director Joe DeMore will provide an update on the Second Chance Job Fairs held at the County Jail, and we are excited to introduce Ashley Grimes, Executive Director of the newly established Florida Recovery Friendly Workplace Coalition.
The Recovery Friendly Workplace Toolkit is designed to help businesses establish policies and practices that foster recovery, reduce stigma, and empower employees to seek help when needed. It aims to cultivate a culture of understanding, safety, and second chances in workplaces throughout Volusia County and beyond.
Equally important, the OneBox distribution is a critical initiative, and Missy O’Brien and Savanah Jenkins from the Volusia Recovery Alliance are doing a fantastic job educating and raising awareness within our community while installing the ONEBox filled with NarCan to area businesses. "Help Save a Life! Come get trained on Overdose Response & Reversal and receive Your companies very own ONEBox with FREE NarCan courtesy of the partnership of Volusia Recovery Alliance and the Port Orange South Daytona Chamber through the Opioid Abatement Grant Program, titled H.E.A.L. (Harm Reduction & Hope through Education, Advocacy and Love). Missy O'Brien, the Project Coordinator, will be leading the Harm Reduction Training."
